Secrets to Making Your Place Smell Amazing All the Time

Are you proud of your home? Anyone who has spent a long time decorating theirs and making sure that everything is neat and in place is probably proud of their work. People who visit you are probably amazed by what you did to space, and they admire your style. Still, all this is in vain unless your home smells good too. You don’t have to scrub all the surfaces every couple of days to get that effect – here’s how you can make your home smell amazing at all times.

Simple is good

The simplest ways to make a room smell pleasant is to light a scented candle. When picking the candle, think about the size of the room you are going to light it in and try to pick up the candles which produce a strong scent even when unlit. The scent is entirely up to you, but you should make an agreement with your family before making a purchase to avoid some of them absolutely hate the scent you bought. Also, if you have small children or pets in your home, keeping a lit candle on a coffee table might not be the safest choice, so you should think of an alternative, such as incense sticks or essential oil diffusers.

Fresh baked cookies

There is probably nothing better than coming home and smelling something delicious from the kitchen, but sadly, we don’t always have time to bake cookies and pies. Luckily, you can easily get the lovely scent of fresh baked cookies simply by putting a couple of teaspoons of cloves and ground cinnamon on a baking sheet and putting it in the oven for half an hour. Make sure you keep the oven door ajar so that the smell can fill the entire house. That way, everyone will be able to enjoy the warm scent. The bad news is they will probably be disappointed that there aren’t actually any cookies.

Vacuum trick

Vacuuming is great for getting rid of dirt and dust, but you can make your home smell wonderful while vacuuming with a couple of simple tricks. You can use a simple cotton ball and soak it in essential oils or even your favorite perfume and leave it in the vacuum cleaner bag. If this seems a bit extreme, you can try something simpler: sprinkle ground cinnamon all over the floor before you start cleaning and then vacuum as usual. This way, instead of smelling like dust, your room will smell of cinnamon and it will be nice and clean too.

Garbage disposal

As handy as garbage disposals are, they can still be a pain because they smell like, well, garbage. To prevent that bad smell spoiling the atmosphere in your home, you can try getting rid of the smell by throwing some nice-smelling garbage down there. Lemon and orange peels are always a good choice, but you can also make your own garbage disposal refreshers with lemon peels and some baking soda. Not only are these convenient to use, but they also look good when kept sealed in a glass jar in your kitchen. Just prepare a few of these and you’ll always be able to reach out and grab a few to freshen up your kitchen.

Use air purifiers

We all try to vacuum regularly, but some of the dirt and the pollutants often stay in the air no matter how vigorously we do it. This is particularly tricky if you live with pets or if you or some of your family members are allergic because the very air in your home can hurt them. Air purifiers are the best solution for these problems because not only will they help clean the air of dust particles and allergens, but they will significantly improve the quality of air in your home. The best air purifiers usually have HEPA filters, and you can find the ones that are going to be best for your home with a bit of research.; Picking the best air purifier for allergies or one of their purifiers for pets, smoke or odors is usually a sound choice.

Stop bad smells

It doesn’t matter how many candles and incense sticks you light, if there is something in your home that causes a room to smell bad, you should do something about it especially during the first few weeks of your pregnancy. Small bathrooms should be vented often because otherwise bacteria will grow and make the all the towels smell musty. Also, if you have pets, you are probably used to their smell, which is why you should pay special attention to this. Change your cat’s litter regularly and take your dog to a groomer. You might not notice that particular smell, but your visitors will the moment they step through the door.
No matter how hard you try, you will never be able to transform your home into a flower meadow. Give yourself and your sense of smell a break every now and then and allow your home to smell of freshly baked cookies and coffee occasionally. It’s not always those super-expensive air fresheners that can make a place smell more inviting, and a simple smell of home will be enough to make everyone feel welcome.
